Welfare advocacy support project

The Advocacy Project has received additional funding through a 1 year pilot to provide independent advocacy support to disability benefits claimants. This support is focused on claimants to PIP and ESA and we will be working across our current service areas of East Renfrewshire, Glasgow, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire

The client groups that we will be able to support through this project are:
– People with a mental health condition
– People with a learning disability
– People with a physical disability
– People with a neurological condition

The type of support we can offer will include:
– Assistance to understand, prepare and take part in meetings, assessments etc regarding PIP and ESA
– Support in attending meetings, assessments etc.
– Support to engage with specialist welfare agencies for appropriate advice. This can include supporting people to attend these appointment with these agencies if necessary

The referral process is the same for any of our services – please call our office on 0141 420 0961 and ask for the duty worker. We will do our best to meet the needs of clients but cannot guarantee we will be able to attend all necessary appointments. In these situations we will aim to provide as much support as we can to the client through sign posting, helping to prepare etc.
This is part of a pilot project being funding by the Scottish Government through the ALLIANCE (Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland).

Please call us if you have any questions regarding this service. Thank you.
