Southern General Hospital/CPDTs

The Advocacy Project operates an independent advocacy service for patients with physical disabilities in the Southern General Hospital. The Service was initially available to patients within Physically Disabled Rehabilitation Unit (PDRU) and Ward 53 (Glenburnhill) but has been extended, and now also includes the Spinal Unit.  Advocacy can also be provided to people using the services of the Community Physical Disability Teams across Greater Glasgow.

  • Do you need help to speak up for yourself?
  • Do you want help writing letters or making telephone calls?
  • Or, do you require information about your rights?

If the answer is "yes" to any of these questions, then The Advocacy Project can help. We aim to support individuals to speak up for themselves or to speak up on their behalf.

If you are in Hospital for the first time, you might be feeling confused and unsure of what you are entitled to. You might want to discuss things like your future care needs or how things could be improved in the ward itself for you. An advocate can help with these sorts of things and will not attempt to influence your decisions or put words into your mouth. The Advocacy Project is independent and therefore puts your needs and rights first.

If you would like to talk to someone from the Project, you can contact us or speak to an advocate during one of their regular visits to the Hospital.
